Usva House is a harmonious blend of Finnish and Japanese architectural influences, showcasing both traditional craftsmanship and contemporary wooden design. Its monumental timber frame structure, created by local artisans at Vivaret Oy, is inspired by centuries-old French guild traditions. The elegant cladding, crafted with the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban technique, adds a striking, tactile quality to the façade.
Constructed entirely of sustainable Finnish wood, the building’s materials are sourced from the region. Wall panels come from Crosslam’s Kainuu factory, while the downstairs ceilings are crafted from spruce trees felled on-site and processed by a local sawmill.
