Welcome to Deepland and Kinnula! At Karkausmäki Guesthouse, you sleep well in our unique and comfortable rooms, enjoy our scenic landscapes, get peace of mind at our lean-to shelter in front of an open fire and relax in the gentle warmth of our traditional finnish sauna!

Karkausmäki Guesthouse offers you a unique accommodation facility in a natural scenic environment with modern amenities. Our house has five comfortable double rooms, and in the courtyard we also have a lean-to shelter and a mini camping site for three campers or caravan trailers. Find real winter in the rural landscape of Kinnula, Northern Central Finland!

The accommodation includes bed linen and towels, and a kitchen with utensils and dishes are at your disposal. The shared toilets and shower facilities are in the immediate vicinity of the rooms, across the corridor.

Day 1
Arrival to Kuopio airport, pick-up and transportation to Karkausmäki Guesthouse (travel time approx 2h).
After settling into the accommodation, we enjoy non-alcoholic welcome drinks and your host, Jenni, will tell you about Karkausmäki Guesthouse's history and story.
Dinner at Karkausmäki and if you wish, our unique traditional sauna is heated for you and after that you can get a good night's sleep in our cozy rooms.

Day 2 "Winter Magic at Lake Valkeisjärvi"
Discover a winter adventure at Lake Valkeisjärvi, where you can enjoy skiing, snowshoeing, snow sledding, or hiking depending on the weather. Warm up by the campfire with delicious snacks and beverages. Experience the perfect blend of nature and relaxation in a pristine winter setting.
Dinner at Karkausmäki's cozy farm kitchen and possibility to sauna like a finn at our traditional finnish sauna!

Day 3 “Sledding day”
After breakfast, we head out to winter wonderland to play! We go sledding and tubing and we will have lunch by the fire in the hut. Release your inner child!
After sledding we go meet finnhorses and enjoy a sleigh ride with beautiful winter sceneries!
Dinner at Karkausmäki in the evening.

Day 4 "Meet the reindeer"
(Rödsö Reindeer cottage, travel time 2h)
Come meet our adorable reindeer herd and a few goats who live with them guided by your host, "Reindeer-Mom". You learn about the animals, you can feed them and you are even able to touch and hug them.
Lunch at the farm. There is also a possibility to buy homemade souvenirs made of reindeer antler.

*Food workshop* (A'la Miina, travel time 1h)
Cooking in a Traditional Finnish Bake Oven!
In the food workshop, we delve into Finnish ingredients under the guidance of Miina, our hostess! Finally, we’ll enjoy dinner around the long table in the cottage.

Day 5
This is a day for relaxation and some pampering! Rest, play in the snow or read a book.
After our hearty breakfast, our laavu is reserved for you to relax and enjoy!
On the afternoon, we’ll have the hot tub and sauna prepared for you to enjoy!
Experience winter magic watching the starry sky in the warmth of the hot tub. If you get lucky, you might also see the auroras on the sky! Peat sauna available for additional cost.
Dinner at Karkausmäki farm kitchen.

Day 6 "Fun with huskies!"
Suomäen ulvojat (Suomäki Howlers) takes you to an adventure in nature with dogs. We will take you to a guided nature hike, snowshoe walk or even a mini safari, depending on the weather. During these adventures, you’ll get to know the dogs, enjoy warm drinks by the fire, and explore the beautiful surroundings. If you’re interested, you can also go on a uniqueexperience called “villasukkakävely,” where you walk with soft woolen socks in temperatures below-10°C (14°F) while enjoying the snowy landscape. Don’t worry; your toes won’t freeze!
Spectacular game dinner served at Game restaurant Pikku Peura by Lake Valkeisjärvi. Taste the real tastes of Deepland of Finland!

Day 7 "Building a Snow Hut" 
You’ll learn how to create a safe snow hut, providing a cozy and atmospheric experience for overnight stays. You can attend alone or with your family and even children can participate in building the hut!
Please note: Weather conditions apply—snow hut construction requires freezing temperatures.
Dinner at Karkausmäki.
Sauna available in the evening by request.

On the arrival day, Saturday: one group transfer from airport Kuopio at 14.00. Return on Saturday, one group transfer to airport Kuopio at 10.30 (for the flight of at about 14.00).
