The Secret Archipelago – A Wellness Holiday by the Sea
Discover the glowing autumn archipelago through sailing, kayaking, and yoga — a perfect balance of adventure and relaxation by the sea.
Located in Southwest Finland, the Turku Archipelago is one of the world’s most beautiful marine regions, dotted with thousands of islands ranging from rugged islets to lively village shores. This retreat takes place on Nagu, a true gem of the archipelago.
As summer fades, Nagu becomes peacefully quiet. The days stay bright, the air turns crisp, and the islands glow with autumn colours — the ideal setting for reflection and renewal. During the week, we’ll sail and kayak in the Archipelago Sea National Park, explore uninhabited islands, enjoy nature trails, and practise yoga both indoors and outdoors — by the sea and in the forest. Evenings bring saunas, fine dining, and restful nights in cozy accommodation.
A Holiday With Us
Yoga Archipelago
Our mission is to showcase the beauty of the archipelago in every season. During the warmer months, we practice yoga outdoors — on sandy beaches, seaside cliffs, and in the forest — and during the off-season, classes are held inside the cosy studio. The founder and head teacher of Yoga Archipelago is Rimma Joenperä. Rimma has spent most of her life in the archipelago, sailing and exploring its islands. Her dream came true when she moved to Nagu in 2013. Today, she lives there year-round with her family. Her children attend the local school and kindergarten, while her spouse runs a restaurant
business on the island. Thanks to her deep local knowledge, Rimma also acts as an excellent guide and is available to participants throughout the retreat week.
Rimma is a licensed physiotherapist (B.Sc.), certified yoga teacher (RYT200), and emotional zone therapist. She has a long professional background in rehabilitation for people with sensory impairments and has worked in physical education all her life.
As a physiotherapist, Rimma is precise about technique but believes that yoga is for everyone — regardless of age or background. She skillfully adapts her guidance to different needs, making her classes accessible even to complete beginners. Many participants return to her retreats year after year, and her weekly studio classes attract locals aged from 7 to 90. At Rimma’s yoga studio, you are welcome just as you are.
Strorbåt Tacksamheten
The traditional-style sailing boat Tacksamheten is a modern version of an old Finnish peasant boat, designed and built by its owner, Sami. Made of wood, the vessel has a minimal carbon footprint and very low environmental impact. Its home harbour is in Nagu. During sailing days, participants can, if they wish, try steering the boat, hoisting or lowering the sails, and taking part in sailing activities. However, no prior experience is required — you can simply relax and enjoy the journey. A professional crew ensures safety and smooth sailing at all times.
Thanks to its shallow draft, Tacksamheten can access hidden lagoons and anchor close to almost any island. Captain Sami knows the Archipelago Sea National Park like the back of his hand, so regardless of wind direction or strength, he will always find the perfect route for an unforgettable sailing experience.
Nagu SeaKayak
They offer a wide range of high-quality kayaks and equipment suitable for paddlers of all sizes and skill levels. Jocke, the main guide, has been kayaking for decades and has guided hundreds of groups. He teaches paddling techniques and ensures that every trip is safe and enjoyable. For larger groups, several guides accompany the participants. Kayaking is a wonderful way to experience the archipelago — you can reach places that are inaccessible by boat. In autumn, when boat traffic slows down, paddling across the calm waters of the Archipelago Sea becomes a deeply meditative experience.
