Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Valamo 9.8.
Arrival: Group Transfer from Kuopio/Savonlinna/Joensuu air port or train station
Accommodation: at Valamo Monastery Hotel
Evening: Dinner and introduction to the week ahead at the monastery's Trapesa restaurant
Day 2: Discovering the Monastery & Scenic Walks 10.8.
Breakfast: Enjoy a hearty breakfast at Trapesa
Mornig walk: A scenic 4.5 km walk to Matkamiehen Risti (The Traveler's Cross) overlooking the stunning views of Lake Juojärvi. Enjoy a break with traditional campfire coffee and snacks at a lakeside lean-to.
Lunch at Trapesa
Monastery Tour: Guided tour of the Valamo Monastery at (English tours available, other languages by request)
Evening: Relax and unwind at leisure in Valamo. Suggestions: a visit to the Wine Tavern, the library, or a peaceful walk to the cemetery.
Dinner at Trapesa.
Day 3: First Hiking Day – Through the Forests and Trails 11.8.
Breakfast.
Departure at 9:00 AM for a 10 km forest walking. Begin with a brief prayer and lighting of candles at the monastery.
Lunch: A delightful outdoor lunch at Taivallahden Hut.
Return back to the monastery by car
Evening: Free time for relaxation.
Dinner at Trapesa.
Day 4: Second Hiking Day – Monastery to Monastery 12.8.
Breakfast.
Travel by car to Taivallahden Kota, then continue your walking towards Lintula Monastery.
A 10 km journey through scenic forest paths and rural landscapes awaits.
Visit to the monastery: End your walk at the Lintula Monastery, where candles are lit in thanksgiving.
Lunch: A delicious meal at Palokki Inn with warm hospitality from hosts Anne-Mari and Jouko.

Day 5: Boat Trip and Herb Farm Visit 13.8.
Breakfast.
Boat Trip: Cruise from Valamo to Varistaipale. Experience the beauty of Lake Juojärvi and witness the unique locks and canals.
Walk to Lintula: A 5.5 km walk from Varistaipale to Lintula Monastery, followed by a charming coffee break at the monastery café.
Herb Farm Visit: Continue walking to Koskijärvi Wild Herb Farm for a hands-on tasting experience, followed by a delicious dinner made from locally sourced herbs.
Return to Valamo by car.
Day 6: Visit to Heinävesi Village & Local Culture 14.8.
Breakfast.
Transfer to Heinävesi village. Morning Exploration: Head to Heinävesi village with a visit to the harbor and Kermacotta café for coffee and ice cream. A short walk to the Heinävesi Church, one of Finland's largest wooden churches, followed by a tour.
Lunch: Enjoy lunch at the Marjamäki vicarage and learn about the history of the area from the vicarage's hostess, Tuula Paul.
Afternoon: Free time for shopping and exploring Heinävesi, including a visit to the local art exhibition at Heimon Tupa.
Scenic View: Stop by the Pääskyvuori lookout tower for panoramic views of Kermajärvi.
Return: Return to Valamo by car.
Farewell dinner and a restful evening.
Day 7: Departure Day 15.8.
Breakfast.
Leisure Time: Relax at the monastery and prepare for your journey home. Last-minute shopping for souvenirs.
Departure: Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
